DLN Consulting, Inc. was contacted by the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDOH) to facilitate strategic planning sessions to develop a statewide suicide prevention plan. DLN began by collecting statewide and national suicide and suicide prevention program data. DLN then gave a presentation about the state of suicide in North Dakota, how the state compared nationally, current suicide prevention programs in North Dakota, and prevention ideas that could be incorporated from other programs throughout the nation. After these educational presentations the strategic planning began. From the strategic planning sessions a statewide suicide prevention plan was developed by DLN Consulting with background information, goals and strategies, and recommendations. Thanks to this plan, the state budgeted funding for suicide prevention in North Dakota for the first time.
