There are, however, tricks that can make the work much easier. The Thief River Falls Education Foundation is presenting a grant‐writing workshop on Wednesday, April 14 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Evergreen Eating Emporium located at Hwy 32 South in Thief River Falls.
The workshop will cover all the basic information a grant writer needs to know to develop any grant, from private foundations to the federal government. Participants will receive insider’ tips and tricks for getting funded. Each person who attends will receive a course workbook, instructions for doing business with the government, and a CD with all the latest required federal forms. They will learn what foundations fund in the upper Midwest, and receive contact information for grant searches.
The Thief River Falls Education Foundation will be hosting this grant‐writing workshop. The Foundation is credited for hosting several educational workshops in the past years. The Foundation founded in 1990 is celebrating 20 years of “Promoting Excellence in Education.”The mission of the Foundation is to promote innovative educational opportunities in School District #564 through partnerships involving alumni, parents, educators, businesses, and the greater community. Watch for other upcoming activities throughout the year in honor of the Foundation’ 20th Anniversary.
Deb Nelson, president of DLN Consulting, Inc. in Dickinson, ND is leading the grant writing workshop. She has been a grant writer and grant administrator for more than 25 years, and she has successfully written or helped write more than $10 million in grants. Nelson has served as a grant writer for many state and local, public and private agencies. She has served as a lecturer/presenter at various national, state, and local conferences on a variety of topics, including community mobilization, coalition building, injury prevention, and alcohol and drug prevention. Deb has also served as the principal administrator for several grant-funded, research-based studies. She has been teaching grant writing since 1998.
The registration fee for the workshop is $150.00, which includes lunch, a course workbook and a resource CD.
