DLN Consulting, Inc. Partners with Colorado Department of Transportation

DLN Consulting, Inc. has entered into a new partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation's Highway Safety Office to provide technical assistance and training in coalition building for local community coalitions.  CDOT was aware of DLN's expertise in this area from work DLN previously did in Colorado through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Working specifically with the Occupant Protection program manager at CDOT, Deb Nelson was brought in to conduct two different training sessions for approximately 100 law enforcement officers, public health workers and community coalition members.  Nelson emphasized working with six sectors of the community to enact coalition activities - law enforcement, healthcare agencies, businesses, faith-based representatives, schools, and community citizens.

The training sessions specifically addressed outcome-based planning and evaluation methods to plan and implement specific occupant protection activities during the Buckle Up America campaign in May.  Emphasis was placed on implementing a series of sustained, year-long activities to enhance the overall success of the May campaign.

The DLN Consulting, Inc. staff will be available to provide technical assistance for all community coalitions in Colorado over the next year.  Another coalition-building training session is scheduled in Denver in March 2007 to help coalition coordinators set up specific evaluation plans for their scheduled activities.
